Ever since I had acquired my first Heritage series LP, a 1982 “Standard 82”, I have been
enamored with the entire Heritage series. This series was Gibson’s first official attempt to create a reissue of the famed ’59 burst, and came in Heritage, Heritage Elite and Heritage Award models.
Prior to the Heritage series, Gibson created a number of custom reissue Standards for select dealers including “Strings and Things”, “Wallace”, "Leo" and "Guitar Trader", all of which are highly coveted by collectors.
This particular guitar has the serial number 80700053 and is stamped “Prototype” on the back of the headstock indicating it is one of the first ever Heritage Elite models ever made in Gibson’s Kalamazoo, Michigan plant.
A heavy guitar, this Les Paul has Tim Shaw humbuckers and is a tone beast for the ages.
